Looking for a health-packed smoothie, but with heaps of sweet sweet flavour? Then this is the perfect smoothie for you. I created this smoothie with a ‘Kitchen Sink’ start… looked through my freezer, fruit bowl & produce drawer and just grabbed what was there. I have never added beets to a smoothie before and was expecting an ‘earthy-taste’ — Oh Man! was I wrong! Talk about a sweet sweet smoothie that is full of nutrients and wholesome goodness (and not to mention a beautiful red colour!):
- 1 Banana
- 3-4 Green Beet Tops
- 1/4 C Shredded Beets
- 1/2 C Raspberries
- 1/4 C Cranberries
- 1 Kiwi (with skin on)
- 1″ Zucchini (skin on)
- 1/2 C Pure Pomegranate juice (or sub in water)
- 1/4-1/2 C Water (to desired thickness)
Mix it all up in a blender or food processor and Enjoy!
(This amount makes enough for 2 full glass smoothies)
Beets are known to be high in antioxidants. They also contribute to detoxification and reduce inflammation. The wholesome nutrients you can expect to get from beets are: folate, manganese, fiber, potassium, vitamin C, magnesium, iron, tryptophan, phosphorus and copper.
